Sem height:auto, o browser não escala a altura proporcionalmente ao width CSS — ficou fixa nos 252px do atributo, esticando a barra toda. Confirmado ao vivo: getComputedStyle(img).height passou de "252px" para o valor proporcional depois desta correção.
